Been a little uninspired, hence the absence from blogging. No need to bore anyone else with my boredom!! I think it's the mid-year doldrums that have gotten to me. We probably need a holiday too. It's been a while. Too long.
I'm feeling the need to paint (walls, not canvases), actually, paint canvases too... to make a trip to Ikea... to learn to crochet... to make a quilt... to scrap... to take more pictures... to have a dinner party... to read a good book...
Met a new little person yesterday - my friend had a precious little 6 pound daughter on Thursday. So tiny and perfect. Eden. How perfect. Going to cook up some vegetarian goodness to take around to her on Monday. I remember not wanting to cook for WEEKS after D was born.
Found this amazing blog this morning. So much eye candy. Inspiring.
I've not been sleeping well lately, and combined with Diesel's new habit of waking at 5.30am, it's making me as tired as I was when we first brought him home. I think I need a little break - I might leave him with Rog tomorrow arvo and head to a local scrapping show. Maybe a little retail therapy will make me feel better!
Happy Saturday :o)

Happy Mummy
One happy mummy here...
Terribly busy today, but want to wish all the mummies reading this a very happy Mother's Day. You deserve to be spoiled, hugged and waited on like queens today!
I was the recipient of a voucher for an hour long massage. Happy mummy. And lots of smiles and hugs from my baby boy. Happy mummy.
Off to lunch, then dinner with the other mummies in our lives.

Skirt
Got around to taking a piccie of the skirt I made on the weekend. Still not convinced about it - it's very *pink*. Don't get me wrong, I like pink, but it's sooooo pink. Fits perfectly though, so I'll have to wear it some time.

Take note of the very cute shoes!! I have been wanting them for *ages* but they were quite (ahem) expensive. Yay for Tupperware money and 25% off shoes at Myer!! I love them so much - unfortunately they make my feet hurt, but I think they just need wearing in. For now, I'll put up with having to plaster my feet with bandaids when I wear them.
Just dyed my hair - dark brown, nothing exciting. Wanted to get rid of the little light hairs that grew through after I had Diesel. Feels good though.
Have the urge to move the furniture around in the lounge room (was watching Nate on Oprah at lunchtime - LOL), but the darned coffee table is too heavy for me to move. Better vacuum instead. *sigh* Definitely going to need another coffee before I tackle the vacuuming...

Weekend and stuff
We've had a bit of a busy weekend! Well, yesterday was, anyway, and we've been recovering all this morning! Yesterday we spent the day out at Kellybrook Winery in the Yarra Valley for their Cider Festival. We are so lucky to live just a few minutes from the Yarra Valley; it is just so beautiful and there's so much to see and do.
Rog and our brother-in-law, John, are building a house on the property at Kellybrook for the owner's son, so they indulged in quite a few complimentary glasses of cider and 'scrumpy' (unrefined apple cider). We had lunch in the restaurant there - a divine antipasto platter - and then wandered around the beautiful grounds.

Rog got what is probably my favourite pic ever of me and Diesel - I love it :)

What else? I've been doing a little bit of sewing, but decided I don't really like the skirt I made, LOL. Chose a very bright patterned, pink corduroy... blah.
And here's some piccies of the bag I made my friend for her birthday last month - I saw a bag on some site, and tried to copy the design. Turned out to be a whole lot harder than what I bargained for, but the result was cute.

No more Shimelle challenges done because she baked - and I didn't feel like baking - and knitted - and I've lost my knitting needles, don't have yarn, and can't really knit to save myself anyway. I'd like to learn again, but that's on my to-do list along with crocheting, making a quilt, and learning how to sew buttonholes.
That's all for now. Better go and get something done while my baby is still asleep!

Cinnamon Dolce Latte
I am a bit of a cinnamon freak. Love the taste. Eat Eclipse Cinnamon mints by the bucketload. So when I wandered past Starbucks today and noticed that they are selling cinnamon lattes, I *had* to stop. And what yumminess that was! So glad I decided NOT to give in to the temptation of Krispy Kremes!
Loving that Diesel is at a great age for me to wander around the shops again. He loves it. Loves looking at the shops, loves smiling at people, loves riding in the pram. I'm making the most of it, cos it probably won't last! Got him a cute beanie from PP too. A baby one, as he has a considerably small head!
He is supposed to be asleep, but is jumping up and down in his cot. I'd be annoyed if he wasn't so darned cute. He just grins at me every time I pop my head in. He had better have a really good sleep when he eventually lays down. LOL.

Creating
Been feeling like doing a lot of creating lately. Thinking about it anyhow. Not a lot gets done with the little hurricane boy around. Anyways, today I actually did something following this morning's post. I made a cute little felt heart hairclip, just like Shimelle's. This pic is pretty terrible and doesn't really do it justice ;o)

I just used stuff I had on my desk from other projects: some felt scraps, embroidery thread, strano ribbon, and doodlebug flower sequins. Pretty happy about the french knots. They've never worked for me in the past. And check out the blanket stitch on that layout underneath (which has been half-finished for four days now) - I learned that in Nic's Stitch-a-licious class!
Which reminds me... I never posted the layout I did in her class:
K, better go clean up my baby and wrap mum's birthday present. Don't have any wrapping paper, so it's brown paper all the way, baby...

I'm so ace
I just 'did' some html. I know that it's probably the easiest thing in the world, but it's always stumped me! Tee hee. Check out my little Shimelle button on the sidebar. I put it there and made it work ;o)
I love Shimelle. She's so cute. She's making something every day in May, inspired by hearts. Go her.

Oops... tagged
Must have conveniently missed the fact that Nic tagged me, well, quite a while ago now. Have to list seven random things about me. This is harder than I thought it would be...
Following a conversation with Nat tonight, I am going to try hard to comment on the blogs I read. Bloglines has made me anti-blog-social. I'm quite bad enough at keeping in touch with people as it is.
Back to my chocolate now. And making mum a birthday card. It's her birthday tomorrow. Getting her an easel. At 51 she took up art classes. So proud of her.
- I am claustrophobic. I can take lifts and stuff, but I always need an aisle seat whereever I am, I can't snorkel because of the mask, and don't even TRY to dutch oven me (Roger!)
- I have an incredibly insensitive skull. You can practically pull a handful of my hair out and I won't even flinch.
- I love maths. No, really. I love the satisfaction of a RIGHT, black and white, logical answer. And it's killing me that I can't remember how to anti-differentiate any more.
- My mum dressed me and my sister in matching outfits for a lot of our childhood. Right up until I was about 12. The worst outfit was probably matching fluroescent bike shorts (hers were green, mine were pink)
- I was a very good girl. Never touched a drink until I was 18. Didn't kiss strange boys. Rarely swore. Been making up for it ever since.
- I used to have this repeating nightmare where hundreds of plasticine balls were falling down in front of me. I think I watched way too many clay-mation shows on the ABC when I was little.
- I'm a bit of a loner, and a homebody. I'm a little awkward around people. I read Danielle Q's blog a little while ago and almost shouted AMEN SISTER, when she typed this: "I write the way I think, and can be quite chatty and conversational. But I can't speak in this way, somehow. My thoughts get in the way." And once Nic used the phrase "socially awkward". Yeah, me to a T. I've often been taken for a snob, but I'm just shy.

Eight months
To my baby boy

Eight months now. That sounds so grown-up! You’re not a little baby any more; you’re almost a toddler. And even if you’re not a toddler age-wise, you’re acting like one! Lots and lots of standing up! On anything and everything. Lots of banged heads too. But you’re so brave, and rarely cry for long. You’ve even mastered the stairs at Mel and Trav’s, and at Nanna and Pa’s. I was so surprised when we were at Mel’s for the afternoon, and you headed straight for the steps and crawled up them with no hesitation. Shame you couldn’t work out how to get down; you somersaulted head first. Didn’t stop you from going up again though.

You are still the happiest baby I think I’ve ever come across. Loads of smiles and more and more giggles every day. Every stranger you meet is a potential friend, and you will grin at them until they pay you some attention. Your favourite person is Daddy, though, and he gets the most smiles when he gets home from work every day.

You are now down to just three breastfeeds a day. I am just a little sad that your love of food is overtaking your love of booby, but it is nice to only have those three feeds a day! You feed when you wake up at 6.30am (just a little too early for me!), about midday, and just before bed at about 7pm. You sleep solidly from 7.30pm to 6.30am. Not a peep from when you lie down, to when you wake. I LOVE that!
You have started doing the funniest new face – you screw up your nose and breathe in and out really heavily. It is unbelievably cute! And you copy us when we do it. Not quite sure where you learnt it, but you soon learnt that it gets you lots of laughs, so I think it is here to stay for a while! Your other new trick is clapping. Again, I don’t know how you learned to do it; you just started doing it one day. Every time you drop onto your bottom from standing up, you look up with a big smile and clap. Can anyone say adorable?

This month you went to your first wedding and your third funeral. Auntie Kel-Kel and Uncle Ash got married! We bought you the cutest tiny suit to wear – dress pants, a white shirt, a tiny black tie and a waistcoat. You were probably cutest thing ever, and completely stole all the attention! I was the maid of honor, so Daddy looked after you most of the day. And you were such a good boy, apart from the fact that you decided not to sleep ALL day. You behaved beautifully at the ceremony, and everyone wanted cuddles at the reception. You were passed all over the place, and had a smile for everyone. By about 10pm you started to get a bit over it, and by 11pm you fell asleep in Pa’s arms. I think you were pretty happy to get into your own bed finally at 2am!

On Easter Saturday we lost Nanna Joy. She had been so sick, but we didn’t expect to have to say goodbye so soon. I’m so glad she got to meet you and give you lots of cuddles. She loved you to bits, and always snuck me some coins to put in your money box! You were very special to her, and one day I’ll tell you lots of stories about her!
On your eight month birthday, you were dedicated. It was important for Daddy and I to have you dedicated; to promise ourselves, our families and God that we are going to bring you up in a household where God is honored. That you will be taught that wisdom, honor, respect and love are important qualities. That you will have the opportunity to make a decision to follow Jesus, and be baptised when you feel ready to. It was a special day, and it was so lovely to have all of your family with us at the service, and then at home with us for lunch.

Your favourite things to do now are eat and bang things! You do eat a lot for a small boy. You can down two vita brits in a flash for breakfast, then want a snack mid-morning. You can feed yourself sandwiches now, and it’s so cute to watch you sitting in your high chair, munching on a peanut butter sandwich! You also love fruit with yummy Jalna yoghurt, but your favourite thing is cupcakes! As well as anything that I’m eating! I am learning that I have to share everything with you!

All of your toys are bearing the brunt of your banging phase. Everything is taken to a wall or to the tiles where your banging can make the loudest sound possible. Luckily nothing is breakable! Daddy is so proud of you – I think he wants you to be a drummer, just like him!

Other random things I’m loving about you: how you play peek-a-boo in your cot when you wake from a nap and giggle, how you hug my leg when you want attention, your ability to find everything funny, how you cuddle your teddy bear to go to sleep, the stories you tell me, how you yell when I’m not feeding you fast enough, your cheeky look as you go to touch something you’re not supposed to… and a million other things. I am so lucky to spend every day with you, beautiful blue-eyed boy.

Love you to the moon and back. Mummy. xxx
