- HUGE congratulations to my precious girl Nat who delivered a perfect baby GIRL (yay!) IN THE CAR yesterday afternoon! Welcome to the world Lani Faith - looking forward to seeing some pics very soon :)
- Thinking of my friends in Gippsland - Nic, Amber and the other girls at STTM - hope you're staying dry and safe!
- Speaking of STTM, I won a comp to name their retreat (Relax to the Max). If you're local, check out details here. I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of fun!
- We are finally feeling a bit better and might even venture out into the world today!
- Rog and I lifted a set of shelves that we've had lying around (he grabbed them from a dentists office he was renovating - they're ugly, but whatever...) on top of my scrapping desk last night to make a little hutchy type thing. One of those things where after we did it I wondered why I didn't do it months ago. I don't think Rog realised that I was going to instantly take it over with scrap stuff. Oops.
- We are getting our new computer delivered tomorrow - yay! Our current computer is only about four years old, but it feels like a dinosaur! And the monitor is probably six or seven years old, and I don't think it helps me much when I'm trying to edit photos. We also have only 40GB of memory on this one!! I think we have about 1GB left, so instead of getting rid of our music, photos, games etc., we thought we'd just buy a new one! End of financial year and all!
- I haven't yet introduced this precious fella. Cade was born two weeks ago to my bestest buddy Mel. He is gorgeous, and now that we're feeling better, I think it's time to have more cuddles :o)

So... playgroup this morning (good gossip with the girls), and then we'll probably both sleep all afternoon. Or I might go and get some piccies printed. Seems I only just did that, but I've got another hundred or so to print. No chance of me ever running out of pictures to scrap! K, time to get out of my PJ's!
Hello baby!
Well, not so much baby, but you know you will ALWAYS be my baby. You are now 10 months old – double figures!! I feel like I’m counting down to your birthday – excited about it, but also a little sad that this year is going so fast.
You seem to have shot up in the past few weeks. We haven’t had you weighed and measured lately, but all of a sudden you seem to be towering over your toys, and able to reach things that you hadn’t previously been able to reach! Your legs seem to be slimming out, but you still have a cute little pot belly.
Your routine hasn’t changed much this month, although you did start sleeping a little longer, and letting me lay in until 7 or 7.30 in the morning. Still having two feeds and two naps a day. You were weaned for one whole day – you started to play around so much when you were feeding, that I gave up and gave you a cup of milk. You loved that, so I made the decision to wean you. Then you got sick, and refused to take the cup. In fact, you threw the cup in my face. So back onto the booby you went. I didn’t have the heart to stop while you were sick.
Being sick also has turned your routine upside down. You can barely stay awake for an hour and a half, and have been napping 4 or 5 times a day. Poor thing. I think you are on the up now, though. It has been nice to have you being all cuddly though. You’re not a particularly cuddly baby, but while you’ve been sick, you often come up to me and lay your head on my lap for a cuddle. You have even been asking to go to bed! You’ll come up with tired eyes, rest your head on my knees and tell me in your cute baby babbling that you need a nap.
You’ve also been teething constantly. All four of your top teeth are finally through. The side ones came through first, then the right middle, and lastly the left middle, which is taking its time. And I’ve got a horrible feeling that your bottom side ones are going to start coming through now, so it looks like we’re not going to get a break!
You haven’t been particularly interested in your toys lately, but books are a different story (pun not intended). You can ‘read’ your books all day, and love to hear me read to you. When I’m finished the book, you sit and turn the pages, pointing at the pictures and telling me about them. Sometimes you’ll pick up one of your books, and your little finger will trace the writing while you ‘read’. I’m so proud of all the things you are learning! In fact, I’m sure that a couple of times you have said ‘booch’ while pointing to a book. It might even count as your first word!
Your other favourite toy is the cat. But Smudge’s patience ran out this month, and he finally took a swipe at you. He has been very tolerant up until now, especially considering that he’s not usually a very tolerant cat! You just pushed him a little too far one night, and he scratched you under your eye and behind your ear. You weren’t too worried about it though, and it certainly hasn’t stopped you from trying to ‘play’ with him!
Our most exciting news for this month though, is that you took your first steps! We were all at the hospital welcoming our new friend Cade into the world, and you were playing with your friend Blake, who is a little older than you. And you did it! You took two steps all by yourself. Daddy was so happy that he was there to see it, and we both got a little emotional! Since then though, you haven’t been too keen to try it again. You will stand by yourself, and walk around holding on to one of our hands, but if we let go, you’ll go back to crawling. Being sick set you back a bit, but now you’re getting better, I don’t think it’s going to be too long until you get your confidence up again.
Cute new things you have been doing this months are
- resting your head to the side on the coffee table/couch/floor and looking cute
- pointing at everything and wanting to know what it is
- doing the two step whenever you hear music
- if you’re sitting down when you hear music, you’ll swing your arms from side to side and clap
- saying ‘ba ba ba’ when you want a drink (or a banana!)
There is just so much to love about you at the moment. Although, I have to admit that being winter and sick and all, I’m getting a little bit of cabin fever. I think we are starting to drive each other a little nutty every now and then, but those are the moments where we drop everything, and head out to do something… anything! Love you, buddy, and I’m loving watching you learning and doing and being you. Mummy xxx
... to share my news :o)
I got an email from the lovely Kelly on Friday asking me to be a part of the design team at kiti q. I was pretty blown away that anyone would even know of me, let alone ask me to design for them! And I've gotta admit, I've kept an eye on the kiti q site waiting for a DT opening, cos they do stock very fun things.
So, I met Kelly and Danielle for a yummy chai latte at Ripe this afternoon, and picked up my first DT pack, full of yummy Love, Elsie goodies. I've already had a play - couldn't resist! The colours are so perfect for my boy! I'll share when I can.
Hopefully this will be the kick in the butt I need to get scrapping again. My mojo has been slowly returning, and some new product might be just what I need to get the inspiration happening.
So that's it - yay! I promise I'll be back with some piccies soon. Need to brighten up this place a little.
I've been thinking a lot about my blog. Obviously I haven't been blogging, but I've been wondering whether to keep it up. I'm not so good at the regular blogging thing, but I think it is invaluable for recording some stuff that I would no doubt otherwise forget. Which reminds me, I need to do a letter for my adorable boy who is 10 months old today. Sick, miserable, teething and 10 months old. Poor chicken.
Poor me too. Me and Rog are both sick. So it's one miserable household.
I had been planning on working on my Masters entry tonight. I haven't really started, and there's only 20 or so days left. I was so determined to actually enter this year, after thinking about it for the past two. But something way more fun popped up today, and I'll be busy working on some other things. Stay tuned for more info on that!
Anyways, the moral of the story is that my blog will still be here, and I will make an effort to post more than monthly. For my sake. I love that my blog friends read this, and I love that I have formed great friendships through this blog, but I am not going to write for recognition or for comments. But please comment if you pop by so we can be friends :)
I am now going to take my achy, snotty, sorry self to bed and keep crocheting my blanket! Good night!
Better late than never ;)

This week you turned nine months old. And you are truly becoming a little man. Your personality is developing so much, and it is a true joy to watch. But let me talk about the more boring stuff first…
At eight months you weighed just over eight kilos. You are slightly under-average weight for your age, but average height. So you are a little on the skinny side. Noone would think it, going by your yummy, chubby thighs though!! And I don’t know HOW you aren’t the size of a house considering how much you eat! You have 2.5 vita brits for breakfast, corn cakes or fruit for morning tea, scrambled eggs or a sandwich for lunch, then another snack, then you’ll have what we eat for dinner, and then often dessert! I’m glad that you love your food, and that you will eat anything (almost – you weren’t keen on baked beans). You had your first seafood this month, and loved that too.
You went down to two booby feeds a day shortly after you turned 8 months. Basically, I kept forgetting your middle feed, and you didn’t demand it, so we dropped it. So now you just have a feed when you first wake up, and one just before you go to bed. You seem to still want it and like it, but you do play around a lot, so I think you’re losing interest. You go to bed between 7 and 7.30pm after having a good play with daddy. He always gives you your bath. You love your baths even more now that you can sit (and stand!) up and play. You always sleep right through the night now, usually waking at about 6.30am. Then during the day you have a couple of naps. Sometimes they are long (about two hours), but mostly they are short!
The last week or so you started waking at 5.30am. And having really short naps. And being a little irritable. Then I discovered four sore, swollen lumps on your upper gum. You’re getting FOUR of your top teeth! By the look of it, the side ones are going to come through first, so you’ll be my little vampire boy for a while! I’m so lucky that you don’t get too nasty when you’re teething.
You play so well by yourself these days, especially in the morning. I can leave you among your toys, and you will quite happily and quietly play there while I go about getting ready. You’ve stopped banging everything, and your movements are so precise and purposeful. You know exactly what you want to do, and are so happy that your hands now do it for you! You can pick up the tiniest little things with ease. And generally they go in your mouth. You are my little human vacuum cleaner! Everything – cat fur, crumbs, pebbles, coins, slaters, onion skins, cat food – the lot goes in your mouth. I’ve given up on trying to stop you, and figure that what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.
You also play well with others! You love having other kids to play with, so love your swimming lessons, playgroup, and when we go visiting. You are not so rough as you used to be, although you still like to poke eyes. I know you’re trying to be affectionate, but you just need to find another way to do it!
You really enjoy being read to, which is great, because I love reading, and am determined that you will be a fluent reader by the time you’re at kinder. Nanna and Pa found all our old Golden Books, so we took some home, and read a few every day. You love to listen to our voices, look at the pictures, giggle, and help us turn the pages. And I love having you sit on my knee, quiet and still, just for a few minutes.
Your sense of fun is really developing. You love to peek at us over the arm of the couch, try to run away when we’re changing your nappy, and chase the cat. All the while giggling hysterically. I wish I could bottle the sound of your giggle. I’m sure it would cure all sorts of bad things.
Your crawling is, of course, very proficient now. You are really quite quick. You can walk around the whole lounge room by holding on to the furniture, and in the last week, have discovered how fun it is to walk with your little trolley. You control it really well – your balance is amazing. You walk along with stiff robot legs and a huge grin on your face. I fear that it won’t be too long before you can walk by yourself. You just look too little to be doing that!
You are getting more and more independent. You hold your cup and drink from it, you like to feed yourself finger food, you search out things to play with (often inappropriate things), and you always need to know what is going on.
I love having you by my side all day. I love to go to the shops with you as you hang out of the pram catching everyone’s eye. I love cuddles with you, and playing with you on the floor, watching tv with you, tickles with you, and chats with you. I am the luckiest mummy in the world. In fact, it was my first Mother’s Day this month (you very thoughtfully bought me a voucher for a massage). And I did feel like the most loved, luckiest mummy ever. Love you so much. xxx
