I very kindly offered to retype one of Roger's assignments as his file got corrupted and is unusable. It is for his Builders Registration Course which he completed last year. The assignment was to write a business plan. He was given a template and had to fill in the gaps. Now, I love my hubby dearly, but writing strategic documents is not his strong point, and I am doing a lot of editing as I go (probably unethical, but we're in this together, hey?)
The problem is, I know that what he has written isn't right, but I don't know what I'm doing either! They are asking for a vision statement, a mission statement, objectives etc., and I'm completely confused!!! I'm trying to find resources on the net, but there's a lot of irrelevant info to wade through. And it's hard to make it relevant to his business (which will be a building company). Argh.
But, I am quite enjoying myself. It has been a long while since I've had to do an assignment, and I quite like it :o) And I'm making it all pretty too. Do you think he'd be upset if I scrapped the front cover ;o)

One month
My precious boy, Diesel
Today you are one month old. I know people say that babies grow up so quickly, but you seriously have grown up so quickly! You seem like such a big boy already!

From the start you have been an easy baby. You feed well and sleep well at night, only ever waking once. In fact, the past two nights you have slept seven hours straight – I hope you keep that up! The past week or so you have been getting some reflux which has made you miserable, and we’re hoping it’s a short-lived phase.
You went straight into your cot when we first came home. I cried when I left you there on the first night, as I was used to have you right next to me in the hospital. I wake at every little noise that comes over the baby monitor, but I love to lie there and listen to your little grunts and whines. You hate to be wrapped – you wriggle and cry if I try it – and you generally sleep with your arms spread out above your head. You are a very relaxed little one!

We like to think that you are advanced for your age. From birth you have had excellent neck muscles, and can hold your head up for ages. You started smiling at three weeks, and for the past week or so have been paying attention to us for longer when we speak and play with you.
Typically, living in this house means you go by a nickname 90% of the time. You are ‘Bubbas’, which is a little confusing, as the cat, Smudge, is called ‘Bubbies’. We have to make sure we call you Diesel once in a while so you don’t have an identity crisis.
Your favourite thing to do is to have a bath – this is Daddy’s job and you both love it. You kick and squirm and a look of intense pleasure on your face. I fear that you love to be naked, just like your dad. We love watching the funny things you do. You have such an expressive countenance, and make the funniest faces, especially when you’re upset. We sometimes feel terrible laughing at you, but you’re just too cute. Daddy loves your cry – particularly your ‘baby cocky’ cry – and the way you shake your head vigorously from side to side when you're hungry or feeding.

You are getting used to being out and about – sometimes it feels like we spend half our time getting in and out of the car. We have been to the shops, to Nanna and Pa’s, to Grandma and Grandpa’s, to church, and to friend’s houses. You are always very good when we’re shopping – you love rides in your pram. You also love rides in the car, and look so cute and little in your baby capsule.
We just love you so much, Bubbas, and could spend all day looking at you. We love watching you grow and your personality develop. We would do anything for you, and at the least you can expect lots and lots of hugs and kisses from us!

Wit's end
OK. Whinge warning. I'm having a bad day. *ONE* I have a UTI. Ouch. Never had one before, and it's not nice. So sorry if that's a little too much information. I'm drinking cranberry juice and trying to cut down on the coffee intake!
*TWO* My little man has reflux and it's driving us both crazy. He's become an irritable, fussy little bubby - cries for about 90 minutes after each feed, vomits continuously, and is obviously in pain. It's killing me to watch him; I just feel so bad that I can't make him feel better. I've tried sitting him up after feeds but he still screams. I think I'm going to have to book us both into the docs and get us some drugs. Don't really want to give my little one medication, but I know how horrible it feels to have heartburn, and if I was him, I'd want the drugs! Luckily he's sleeping ok at night, but he's just so exhausted during the day from the pain and crying. I've been in tears all afternoon watching his poor little sad face.
In happier news, I've been scrapping. Although, I did manage to spill a full glass of water over a sheet of Basic Grey yesterday. Grrrr. I've finished three pages this week - two of Diesel and one for my EDM album. Will get around to scanning them one day! And I'm decorating a photo album to give to my parents - it's their 31st wedding anniversary today. We're heading out for Lebanese tonight - yum!
And a short bit of Idol commentary - so glad that Reigan went on Monday. As much *potential* as she had, I just don't think she had the maturity to use it. She murdered that song on Sunday night (which wasn't as obscure as the judges said - maybe they should switch their dials OFF the mainstream stations every now and again...) 'Tis a good year though - I look forward to seeing what they will do each week - especially Bobby and Damien. And I just look forward to watching Dean. Can't sing that great, but boy, oh, boy.

Mummy brain
I have totally forgotten what I came on here to blog about...
I DO have this to share:
My little boy is smiling!!! He has always done little wind smiles in his sleep, but now he does good, eye-contact smiles in response to our voice. So precious!
And I've almost finished his first layout. Will share when it's done.
I'm really feeling like doing some scrap shopping, so I thought I'd throw out a question on my blog: what online store do you LOVE? I've tried a few, but I want to know who you love in terms of new stock, stuff actually being IN stock, price, service, speed etc.
Oh, I remember what I was going to blog, and it was totally unimportant! I was browsing the mid-month garden at Two Peas and it ROCKS! So much good stuff there this month. It got me all inspired, so I'm off to scrap!

Don't you just love...
when you are down to your last $100 or so, and have bills to pay, and groceries to buy, and birthdays looming, and then finally your DH gets paid! We've been waiting on some payments for so long, and some of it came through today. Yay! Not quite enough to be infront, but enough to be on top of this fortnight. We were talking on Monday night at our cell group about God our provider, and this is always one of our testimonies, especially with Rog being self-employed. Very cool.
I was at the library flicking through SM yesterday (yup, officially a tight-arse, reading CK and SM at the library rather than buying them), when I noticed one of my layouts in the doodling gallery. I had forgotten about that one, and apparently so had they, cos I haven't received a commissioning letter or a cheque... Hmmmm.
Anyways, I'm off to B-Pay my little heart out!!

Quick update
All went well at the docs. Apparently what I thought was a horrible prolapse is totally normal considering the kind of birth I had and the fact that it's only been three weeks since. In other words, 'go away you silly hyperchondriac, you're fine'. I felt silly, but happy that everything is normal, even though it feels anything BUT!
I've just spent the last hour or so backing up all my photos and deleting 500 or so from the hard drive. Must make copies of all the cds tomorrow. Feeling good about that - have been panicking that our pc will blow up sometime soon, and I would lose all my pics. I do get most of the good ones printed, but I'd still hate to lose the files.
Going shopping with my mum tomorrow. Have to lodge my form for Family Assistance - hopefully we will get some money!
Must go get the little one for his dream feed and get to bed. Sweet dreams :o)

More pics of the mister
Not much to say today. Little one sleeping on my chest making cute noises. Happy that Joseph was voted out of Idol last night. Having naughty thoughts about Dean. Having a lazy day - still in my pjs at 11.30. Doctors appointment later on to sort out some *iss-ewes* I'm having with my insides falling out. Beautiful day in Melbourne. About to hang nappies out to dry.
And the pics.

Tags and schtuff
*Sigh* This mummy stuff is hard work. Well, not so much hard, as exhausting. There's not much more to a newborn than feed, change nappy, talk in silly voices and smile a lot, and put down for a nap. I'm just not adjusting to the lack of sleep. As I've said before, I really can't complain about getting up once a night. On average, I get to bed about 11pm, am up once for a feed at 3 or 4am, then sleep again until morning. I'm just SOOOO tired! Once it hits about 3pm, I've had it, and am useless for the rest of the day. Hope my body clock can adjust so I can start feeling a little normal again.
Belinda has tagged me, so here goes...
List 5 weird things about yourself or your pets. Tag 5 friends and list them. Then, those people need to write on their blogs about 5 weird things, and state the rules, and tag 5 more people. Dont forget to let the people you tag know by posting a comment on their blog!

Mean mummy
So, I'm letting the little one cry himself to sleep. I feel so terribly bad every time I do it, but he will cry for at least fifteen minutes when I put him down, and then fall into this gorgeous, deep sleep. He refuses to be swaddled; he has to have his arms free when he's in his cot or else he screams and screams. When he's in his active sleep cycle, his little arms jerk and flail around, and I don't know how he doesn't wake himself. When he's in his deep sleep, his arms flop up beside his head, and he looks so utterly relaxed and helpless.
We had a busy day yesterday - appointment with the maternal and child health nurse first off. He is back to his birth weight, has grown 4cm, and all his reflexes are good. Then we went back to the hospital where I worked (and where Diesel was born). He slept the entire time we were there - was handed back and forth to a hundred different people, and just slept. Then to my parents' to meet one of my aunties. Again - slept and slept. What a little champion! He made up for it once we got home, and screamed for a solid hour. He's still sleeping well though - slept from his 10.30pm feed until 3.30am, then I had to wake him at 9am for another feed.
My house is a mess, but the motivation to clean is zilch. The weather is horrid, and my washing pile is HUGE. But, I'm not going to feel guilty about having a slow day. I need it, Diesel needs it. Whatever gets done, gets done. The rest will still be there tomorrow! Unfortunately!
And he's still crying...

Daddy
Rog was pretty happy to be celebrating his first Father's Day yesterday. We had a hectic day, rushing from Church to Roger's parents' house for lunch, then to my parents' house for dinner.
Our little Diesel is so lucky to have so many great-grandparents. He has two on my side (my mum's parents) and four on Roger's side. We got these pics of the four generations of boys on both sides yesterday.

The most fun was dressing Diesel up in his new camo Pumpkin Patch pants and his 'I love Daddy' top. Meant to get some piccies of Rog and Diesel yesterday, but didn't get round to it. Will have to set up a shoot next weekend to get some daddy and baby photos.
Must go - the little one is being a little fussy today. Have to try to get some scrapping in while he's asleep!

Showing off
Time to show off some pics of my precious boy! I'm still in mummy-la la land - elated, sleep deprived and feeling a bit like I'm in a surreal parallel universe, where all that exists are boobies and nappies.
The boy loves his booby:

And he finally enjoys his baths:

He looks SO much like his daddy in this one:

He's feeding well, and sleeping from 4 to 6 hours in one go at night, so I'm only getting up once. Feeling pretty blessed! Can't wait to get scrapping again now that I have my new muse!!!
